Going through a weigh station on Interstate 95 their remote cameras spotted 2 lug bolts broken. So DOT inspected this trailer and deemed it unsafe and grounded it until it was repaired.
Since this gooseneck trailer could not roll to a repair shop, my Mobile Trailer Repair Service in St Augustine Jacksonville FL was called in to fix it in the weigh station parking lot where it was grounded.
You can see the two lug bolts and nuts are missing.
We open up the bearing cap which keeps in the oil. We diligently try to collect all the leaking oil but life didn't want to cooperate with us fully on this day.
It needed new trailer bearings, drum oil seal, some brake parts and new lug bolts with new lug nuts.
After putting in all the new trailer parts, the brake shoes still needed to have all the leaking oil cleaned off before reinstalling the split drum.
Cleaning off the brake shoes is how a little oil made it to the parking lot in spite of our best efforts.
It was a split drum, so to install the new lug bolts, we had to split (separate) the drum apart right there in the parking lot.
Now its all put back together and ready to go haul another load of produce to market.
